NEW ORLEANS, La. – Kennesaw State women’s golf finished the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in 13th place, posting a 308-298-311=917, +53 at the English Turn Country Club.

In a field that held 12 of the Golfstat top-50 teams and on a course that was labeled one of the PGA Tours toughest, the Black and Gold hung tough for 54-holes and will return home with a win over a top-40 program.

Freshmen Ines Lescudier and Kaew Preamchuen each finished tied for 42nd, 228, +12 to lead the Owls. Lescudier posted a final round of 79, +7, while Kaew Preamchuen concluded the tournament carding an 81, +9 to drop from 10th place. Ket Premachuen placed tied for 46th turning in a 77-76-76=229 +13, whereas Lea Charpier rounded out the scoring for the Owls shooting a 235, +19.

The four scorers for the Black and Gold registered 18-birdies over the course of three days and stayed neck and neck with the nations top teams. Currently the top ranked program in the Atlantic Sun with a Golfstat ranking of 60, the Owls have responded well in some of the toughest collegiate tournaments women’s golf has to offer.

Duke University claimed the team title as the Blue Devils entered today’s final round four shots back of first and second round leader Southern California.  Duke posted an even-par round today as second-ranked Lindy Duncan led the charge with a 69, -3 while Courtney Ellenbogen and Laetitia Beck each finished even to give the Blue Devils the title.  USC, meanwhile, turned in its highest round with a 296, +8 and fell from first to a third place finish behind Colorado.

Individually, Colorado’s Alex Stewart claimed the individual medalist title after she fired the lowest round of the day with a 67, -5 to overtake second round leader, Cassy Isagawa of Oregon, by one stroke.

The Owls will return to action on Mar. 4 when they travel to Miami, Fla., to compete in the Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami. For updates on the Invitational, you can follow the Owls on Twitter @KSUOwlsWmnsGolf.
