KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State baseball team is set to take on No. 11 ranked Georgia Tech Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 4 p.m. at the neighboring Russ Chandler Stadium in downtown Atlanta. This schedule change is due to the inclement weather taking place in Atlanta.

The Owls are coming off a series where they traveled to FedEx Field to defeat Memphis in the opening game, but followed it up with back-to-back losses to the Tigers. In all three games, the Owls put themselves in a hole by allowing the home team to score first. Prior to the two losses, the Owls were riding a three game winning streak that included 31 runs scored on 32 hits.

Kennesaw State and Georgia Tech will be meeting for the 17th time with the Yellow Jackets having won all but four games. Last season, the Owls and Jackets split two games, as the Black and Gold defeated the No. 8 ranked Jackets 7-6 with a walk-off hit by senior Ray Anderson in the bottom of the ninth inning before a record-breaking crowd of 1,242 fans at Stillwell Stadium.

On the last visit to Russ Chandler Stadium, the Owls lost to then ranked No. 24 Yellow Jackets 7-4 as KSU’s three-run rally in the top of the fifth inning fell short of a victory. Junior Ronnie Freeman saw success at the field, as he tied the Kennesaw State record by hitting in his 41st consecutive game.

The Yellow Jackets (6-2) are coming off a 2-3 series versus Ohio State (3-3) that saw Jake Davies finish 3-for-4 with a home run, a double while setting a new career high with four RBI and matched his career best of three runs scored.

The starters for the in-state rivalry will be two freshmen, as Kennesaw’s Colton Cross will go up against Cole Pitts. Each collegiate newcomer has one win on their ledger as Cross won his first game last week at Alabama State after throwing six innings allowing only two runs on three hits while recording seven strikeouts in the teams 14-2 win over the Hornets.

Tuesday night's game can be heard live KSU All-Access or on WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta. Live stats of the game will also be available. Kennesaw aims to get back to .500 baseball after their trip to Tech as they approach a three-game weekend series against Jacksonville State.
