KENNESAW, Ga. – The Owls Baseball program is set to travel to Memphis for a three game series with the University of Memphis at FedEx Park beginning Friday at 4 p.m. with game two scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday and the series finale on Sunday at 1p.m.

The Owls are coming off a 2-2 opening week that included a series split with Virginia Tech and a 14-2 win over Alabama State. The team tallied 12 hits including three homeruns against the Hornets, while their pitching has remained rock steady. Combining to score 20 runs in their last two games, the squad looks to even the all-time series with the Tigers after dropping two of three at home in 2011.

Last years series between the two was the first time the two programs had ever met with all three games coming down to the wire. The Black and Gold fell in the opener 4-5, but rallied back in game two to grab a 2-1 victory. In the rubber match Kennesaw State would hold the lead through three innings. Memphis would add three runs in the seventh and four more on a Jacob Wilson grand slam in the eighth inning as they helped starter Clayton Grant get his first win of the year. The Owls managed seven hits over five innings against Grant, but couldn’t muster anything aside from a Will Howard homerun.

The Tigers are coming off a 10-7 loss to SIU Edwardsville at home and a 1-2 weekend that saw the Tigers trio of Adam McClain, Derrick Thomas and Jacob Wilson all hit above .400 in the three games and tally 11 of the Tigers 19 RBI’s.

Kennesaw aims to return home above .500 as they have a meeting with No. 11 ranked Georgia Tech on Feb. 29.
