KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State head track and field coach Andy Eggerth and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics have announced the signing of Destiny Jenkins to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Owls cross country and track program beginning in the Fall of the 2012-13 season.
“We are extremely excited about having Destiny join our program here at KSU,” Eggerth said. “She was the top prospect on our list and has the talent to come in and compete right away. Destiny is the kind of talent we look for to help take our program to the championship level.”
Jenkins comes to Kennesaw as a highly touted prep athlete who specializes in distance. Jenkins boast personal best in the 1500 meter (4:39.67), 1600m (5:05.55), 5000m (18:18.11) and one mile run (5:41.34).
“Kennesaw State has so much to offer me,” Jenkins said. “I felt that I could expand my education and maximize my athletic ability with everything that the school has to offer me.”
Jenkins will join her older brother Josh Jenkins as a distance runner for the Black and Gold. A freshman standout of his own, Josh was named an Atlantic Sun Conference All Freshman team honoree.
“Destiny brings strong academics and equally strong athletics to KSU, and will be a fine addition to our Owl family,” head cross-country coach Ryan Wagner stated. “She will bring a sense of pride and professionalism along with a fierce spirit of competition to this team.”
With ambitions of one day attending medical school, Jenkins plans to study physical therapy while attending Kennesaw State.
