TROY, Ala. - The Kennesaw State women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback today at Troy University.  Sophomore Alexandra Apostu scored the Owls' only point with a straight set victory at the No. 2 spot.

In the opening doubles, KSU (3-2) dropped the doubles point despite a solid win by the No. 2 duo of Virginie Stein and Jana Hueckinghaus, who rolled past Candela Munoz-Giron and Samya El Hsissen of the Trojans, 8-4.  Unfortunately for the Owls, the other two doubles matches went the way of the Trojans, giving them the doubles point and the early 1-0 lead.

In singles, the Trojans (2-4) rolled to victories the No. 4 to No. 6 spots, before Apostu got the Owls in the board with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Lyubov Dorofeeva.  The remaining two matches were both tight affairs won by the home team.  Stein was taken down 6-4, 7-5 by Olfa Dhaoui at the No. 3 spot, before Vera Shkundina fought back from a first set loss to stretch her match to three sets, but ultimately was taken out, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 by Karoline Grymel.

The Owls will return to the road next weekend when they face off with Wofford College on Friday, followed by a Saturday matchup with Presbyterian College.
