Live Scoring

SORRENTO, Fla. - The Kennesaw State women’s golf team concluded round one of the UCF Challenge in a tie for 11th as freshman Lea Charpier is tied for 13th after leading the Owls.

The scoring conditions were unfavorable today as the start of play was delayed due to frost. Play began with temperatures in the low 30’s, as it was a chilly round one that yielded average scores.

“Today was solid, but we have some areas that need improvement before the next round,” head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. “We faltered over the last three holes after putting ourselves in good position early in the round. I am impressed with our start to the spring, but there is still room to get better.”

Behind Charpier’s 72, even par, was junior Molly Winnett’s 75, +3, who is playing in her first tournament of the 2011-12 campaign. The remainder of the Black and Gold squad is positioned outside the top-50, but look to get in the thick of the race tomorrow when the team tees off at 9:30 a.m. E.T.

The Owls will be paired with UTSA and Memphis for round two of the UCF Challenge. For live stats of the Challenge, visit Golfstat.com. For updates throughout the round, you can follow the team on Twitter @KSUOwlsWmnsGolf.
