THE GAME
The Kennesaw State women’s basketball team (1-4) looks to make it two wins in a row this Saturday, Nov. 24, as the Owls head to Spartanburg, S.C., for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Terriers of Wofford College.
The Owls picked up a pair of clutch performances from
Sametria Gideon (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) and
Kristina Wells (Douglasville, Ga./Douglasville County HS) this past Wednesday as head coach
Nitra Perry earned her first career win in a 72-65 win over Troy.

THE SERIES
The Terriers hold a slight, 1-0 lead over the Owls in the all-time series. Last season in Kennesaw, Ga., Wofford took a 66-62 win on Nov. 11, 2011 when Gideon set a then career high with 23 points during the loss. Saturday’s game will be the first for KSU at Benjamin Johnson Arena.
LAST OUTING
Gideon clicked for 25 points while Wells walked away with a career high 23 as the Owls earned their first win of the year, 72-65, over the Troy Trojans.
The Owls held one of the best offenses in the country to just 65 points, forcing 30 Troy turnovers in the process as Perry took her first career win as a head coach.
THE NUMBERS
Gideon is now just 7 points shy of reaching the 1,000 point milestone for her career, sitting at 993.
The Owls are shooting at a .359 success rate from the field through four games this season. KSU has also been good for 25 three-pointers from five different players.
THE OPPONENT
Wofford comes into the game with a 2-1 overall record and is currently enjoying a two game win streak. The Terriers are, however, winning by an average of just 2.5 points.
Morgan Wrightson and Rachel Brittenham are each averaging double-digit points for Wofford with Wrightson holding a 14.3 margin while Brittenham is holding steady at 11.3.
The Terriers are also giving up an average of 20 turnovers per game while allowing 71.7 points per outing to their opponents.
NEXT UP
The Owls will continue the road trip next week, heading to Jacksonville State on Wednesday, Nov. 28. KSU will then face cross-town rival Georgia State, UNC-Asheville and Texas State before returning to the Convocation Center on Dec. 21, when Georgia Southern comes to town.

Gideon Three Straight Double-Doubles
Gideon has put up back-to-back-to-back double-doubles for head coach Nitra Perry, earning 11 points and 11 rebounds at Morehead State, followed by a 10-point, 12-rebound game against Davidson and a 25-point, 12-rebound outing against Troy.
Newcomer of the Week
KSU freshman
Chelsea Mason (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West HS) earned A-Sun Newcomer of the Week honors after tallying 42 points in three outings for the Owls, including a career-high 16 at No. 20 Georgia Tech. Mason scored in double-figures in each contest over the last seven days, all on the road, while averaging 25 minutes per game with 10 rebounds.
Gideon and Kennedy Rebounding Well
Chantel Kennedy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Colorado St.) and Gideon are proving to be one of the most feared rebound combinations in the A-Sun, ranking third and fifth in the league standings respectively. Gideon has pulled in a team high 49 total boards with Kennedy not far behind with 42.
Guzman Passing Well
Freshman point guard
Shadelly Guzman (Miami, Fla./Monsignor E. Pace HS) is tops for the Owls with 19 assists in five games, leading the KSU offense. During her last outing against Davidson, Guzman had a career high nine assists for the Owls.
