THE SERIES
The Owls are currently leading the all-time series with Troy by a 2-1 margin, taking a 66-57 win in Troy, Ala., last season that saw 17 points from Ashley Holliday (Greenville, S.C./J.L. Mann Academy). The one win for Troy came back on Nov. 19, 2007 with a one point, 58-57 win, the only other meeting between the two schools in Kennesaw, Ga.

LAST OUTING
The Owls closed a 26-point gap in the final minutes against Davidson, but a season high 12 three-pointers wasn’t enough for the Owls as they fell, 63-54, in the final round of the Preseason WNIT at Morehead State.

The 12 threes are the most for any KSU team in a single game since joining the Division I ranks with Chelsea Mason (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West HS), Ashley Holliday (Greenville, S.C./J.L. Mann Academy) and Bria Young (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill HS) each hitting three.

For the third straight contest Mason hit double-digits in the points column, going off for a team high 13 with Sametria Gideon (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS)  also in double-figures with her 10.

Shadelly Guzman (Miami, Fla./Monsignor E. Pace HS)  dished out a career high nine assists during the game along with her first career three-pointer while Nicole Adams (New Port Richey, Fla./Gulf HS)  made her first two threes of the season as well on four attempts.

THE NUMBERS
Gideon is now just 32 points shy of reaching the 1,000 point milestone for her career, sitting at 968.

The Owls are shooting at a .335 success rate from the field through four games this season. KSU has also been good for 21 three-pointers from five different players.

The black and gold have four players shooting 40-percent from the field or better including Mason and Adams at 40-percent, Gideon at 45-percent and Chantel Kennedy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Colorado St.) with a team high 46-percent.

THE OPPONENT
Troy boasts the top offense in the nation after scoring an NCAA high 118 points during a win over Furman on Nov. 18. The Trojans are averaging 96.7 points per game but are also allowing 93 on average to their opponents through three outings.

Five players are averaging double-digits scoring with Ashley Beverly-Kelley leading with a 16 points per game average as the Trojans are shooting .454 from the field and .410 from beyond the arc.

The 1-2 Sunbelt squad is under first year head coach Chanda Rigby, whose run-and-gun offense earned Pensacola State College two trips to the National Junior College Athletic Association Final Four with a combined 64-6 record over the past two seasons.

NEXT UP
The Owls will be back on the road for five straight after Wednesday’s game against Troy, heading to Wofford on Nov. 24. After the meeting with the Terriers, KSU will then see Jacksonville State, Georgia State, UNC-Asheville and Texas State.
