THE GAME:
Kennesaw State will wrap up its competition in the 2012-13 Preseason WNIT, heading to Morehead, Ky., for the second and third round of games. The Owls will face the host team Morehead State on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and either Davidson or Northern Illinois on Sunday.
The Owls are coming off of an impressive second half showing against No. 20 Georgia Tech, keeping it to a three-point game in the final 20 minutes.
THE COVERAGE

THE OPPONENT
Morehead State has played just once prior to Friday’s competition, falling in the WNIT First Round to Illinois State, 62-45. The Eagles, led by seasoned head coach Tom Hodges, will be looking for program win number 500 this season, sitting at 499-556 all time.
The meeting between KSU and MSU will also serve as the home opener for the Eagles at Johnson Arena.
Davidson and Northern Illinois will play after the Kennesaw State, Morehead State matchup on Friday with the two winners and two losers playing on Sunday at either 5 or 7 p.m.
THE SERIES
The Owls have not yet met any of this weekend’s opponents, marking the first meetings between Kennesaw State and Morehead State and either Northern Illinois or Davidson.
LAST OUTING
Freshman
Chelsea Mason (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West HS) lit up the scoreboard with a career high 16 points at No. 20 Georgia Tech. The Owls kept things close in the second half, making it a 36-33 game in the later part of the night.
Kristina Wells (Douglasville, Ga./Douglas County HS) was right behind with 15 points, 12 of which came in the second half alone, to go with her three assists, two steals and 7-of-9 success rate from the free-throw line, where the Owls were 16-for-23 as a team.
Christine Wylie (Ballarat, Australia/Ballarat HS) and
Sametria Gideon (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) each recorded blocks for KSU during the game, the first two of the young season for the black and gold.
THE NUMBERS
KSU leading scorer
Bria Young (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill HS) made it two straight games with multiple three-pointers on Tuesday, connecting for nine points on three made baskets after hitting five in the season opener at Middle Tennessee State.
The Owls are shooting at a 29-percent success rate from beyond the arc in their two games played, sinking eight on 28 attempts.
The black and gold are now averaging an attendance of 3,459 people per game and have played in front of a grand total of nearly 7,000 fans.
NEXT UP
KSU will finally make its long-awaited home debut this upcoming week, taking on Sunbelt Conference rival Troy this Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. ET.
NEWS AND NOTES
Gideon Honing in on 1,000
Gideon is now just 53 points shy of reaching the 1,000 point mark for her career with 947 in her 90 games played. Gideon will be the first player to reach the milestone since the Owls joined the Division I ranks.
Road Warriors
KSU continues the grueling road schedule, playing its first four and nine of its first 10 contests away from the KSU Convocation Center. After the home game against Troy, the Owls will again head out for five straight matchups starting on Nov. 28, at Wofford.
Wells a Leader on the Floor
Wells has quietly put together an impressive start to the season, earning 17 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and six steals. The sophomore has quickly become one of the most well rounded players in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
