MACON, Ga. –
Sophomore Jimmy Beck was recognized as the Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Week for his 54-hole performance at the Pinetree Intercollegiate earlier this week.

Beck led the Black and Gold with a seven-under-par, 209 that included a second round of 65, -7 that set the Pinetree Country Club course record. Finishing with six strokes in between him and second place, Beck became the fifth Kennesaw State golfer to garner individual medalist honors as he won his first intercollegiate title.

“It’s an honor receive this award and I’m ecstatic to get my first win here at our home course,” Beck said. “Now that the fall season is over, I will work even harder this winter in preparation for the spring season.”

In four tournaments this season, Beck has finished inside the top-five three times and inside the top-20 at every event. He bolsters a 71.92 stroke average and is currently ranked 47th in the Golfstat Cup, an award given by Golfstat, Inc. to the Men's Collegiate Golfer with the lowest yearly scoring average.

“Jimmy’s performance was one of the best 54-holes of golf I have ever seen,” Head Coach Jay Moseley said. “His ball control was impeccable and he had great touch on the greens. We all knew he was capable of a breakthrough performance and it was great to see him do it on our home course at Pinetree.”

A native of Columbus, Ga., and finance major, this is Beck’s third career Atlantic Sun Golfer of the Week award and second this season as he was tabbed for the award in September for his showing at the Shoal Creek Invitational.

The Owls will resume play in the spring when the team opens play at the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz., on Jan. 28. Keep up with Owls men’s golf by following KSU on Twitter at @KSUOwlNation at @KSUOwlsMensGolf, or by liking Kennesaw State Owls on Facebook.
