DULUTH, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team sit in eighth place after two rounds of the Autotrader.com Collegiate Classic. The team combined to shot a 36-hole total of 595, +27 at the par 72, 6679 yards Berkeley Hills Country Club.
Senior
Peder Lunde Hermansson led the Owls on day one, posting an even-par, 74-68=142 total. Hermansson remains in fourth place, just one stroke behind second, and four behind the leader Dykes Harbin (138, -1) of South Carolina.
"I was happy with Peder's performance," Head Coach Jay Moseley said. "His play carried us today and we will need him to continue playing well in order to be in contention."
Sophomore
Jimmy Beck ended the day tied for 22nd, posting a six-over-par, 74-74=148. Followed by
Austin Vick, the sophomore carded a 10-over-par, 152.
Ben Greene shot an 11-over-par, 153 to tie for 46th, while
Sam Curtis rounded out play at 22-over-par, 164.
Georgia Southern holds the team lead at one-over par, 569 with 18-holes remaining. The Eagles hold a 12-stroke advantage over Georgia State (581, +13), and lead Atlantic Sun foe Mercer (585, +17) by 16. Winthrop University (587, +19) is alone in fourth, while Chattanooga (590, +22) rounds out the top five.
The final round of play starts at 8:10 a.m. (EDT), with the Black and Gold teeing off at 8:15. The Owls will start in 10 minute increments and will be paired with Towson, VCU and Furman.
