KENNESAW, Ga. - After facing the reigning Atlantic Sun Conference champions Monday night, Kennesaw State's women's basketball team will now play host to the other team currently leading the A-Sun Wednesday afternoon as the Lady Owls host Florida Gulf Coast.  Tipoff at the KSU Convocation Center is set for 4:45 p.m.

"We're playing one of the best teams in the country," said KSU head coach Colby Tilley.  "They're a very well-coached team.  Although we split with them last year, tomorrow's game is going to be a battle."

The Lady Owls (6-8, 1-2) are coming off a tough, 65-55, loss to Stetson at home Monday night.  KSU tied the score with 3:45 to go in the contest, but the Hatters were able to score the final 10 points of the game to take the win.  Kristina Wells scored a team-best 13 points in the loss, while Chelcey Farrar added 12 off the bench to go with nine rebounds.

KSU fell to Stetson even though it had a dominating performance on the glass.  KSU out-rebounded Stetson, 46-33, and also had a large offensive rebounding advantage (19-10).  Still, it was Stetson who scored more second-chance points against the Lady Owls, 15-14.  KSU was also unable to force any Stetson turnovers in the second half after forcing 15 in the opening 20 minutes.

Florida Gulf Coast (11-2, 3-0 A-Sun) is coming off a, 98-50, victory over Mercer in Macon, Ga., Monday night.  In the latest NCAA rankings, the Eagles rank first in 3-pointers per contest, averaging 12.6 per game.  FGCU also ranks second in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio and second in turnovers per game.  FGCU's only two losses this season have come at Seton Hall (57-51) and versus N.C. State at a tournament in Hawai'i (69-64).

However, if there is a team that has proven it can defeat Florida Gulf Coast, it's Kennesaw State.  The Lady Owls defeated the Eagles, 63-52, last season in Kennesaw.  Two of the three lowest point totals the Eagles scored last year were against the Lady Owls.

"The key for us is going to be limiting - not stopping - but limiting their 3-point attempts," coach Tilley stated.

Kennesaw State has won twice in the eight meetings all-time with FGCU.  The other KSU win came Feb. 16, 2008, in Kennesaw by a 55-52 score.

Following Wednesday's contest, the Lady Owls will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to face USC Upstate.  Tipoff in that contest is slated for 4:30 p.m.
