LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team finished round one of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in a three-way tie for sixth after posting a 322, +34 at the University Club of Kentucky.
The leader for the Black and Gold was sophomore Hayley Clinning who shot a 79, +7 to finish tied for 15th.
The two freshmen continued to contribute as Minami Levonowich turned in an 80, +8 to sit tied for 24th, while Léa Charpier finished tied for 29th just one stroke behind her teammate shooting an 81, +9.
Junior Ket Preamchuen rounded out the scoring for the Owls posting an 82, +10 to tie for 42nd.
The Owls remain tied with Middle Tennessee and Michigan with 36-holes and two rounds to play. The trio trails leader UCF (311, +23) by 11-strokes. Host school Kentucky is second as the Wildcats are just one-stroke behind the Knights and two-strokes ahead of Miami (314, +26).
Samantha Sloan of Illinois is leading the individual medalist race after shooting a 73, +1. Sloan stands only one stroke ahead of Ashley Haggard (74, +2) of MTSU and Kaitlyn Price (74, +2) of UFC.
The Black and Gold will tee off for round two on Saturday at 9:20 a.m. E.T., and will be paired with Mississippi State and Illinois.
