BURLINGTON, Iowa - The Kennesaw State men's golf team is tied for eighth after 36-holes of play at the Golfweek Conference Challenge at the Spirit Hollow Golf Course shooting a 302, +14 in round two.
“We got off to a great start playing well in some cold and windy conditions,” head coach Jay Moseley said. “However, the last seven holes were played about as bad as they could have been unfortunately. The conditions worsened as the day progressed and we simply hit uncharacteristic golf shots. Days like today make this team better and tomorrow we will refocus and go out and give it our best.”
Matt Nagy remains the leader for the Owls as the senior is tied for eighth posting a 75, +3 on day two. Senior Jeff Karlsson turned in a 74, +2 for the second consecutive round to close out the day tied for 23rd.
Freshman Jimmy Beck posted a 77, +5 to tie for 50th while sophomore Jonathan Klotz and Sam Curtis remain tied for 60th after Klotz shot an 81, +9 and Curtis finished with a 76, +4.
The Owls remain tied with Georgia Tech and will look to make up ground in the final round on Wednesday. The team will tee off at 9:30 a.m. and will be paired with Georgia Tech and Ball State.
The team will look to chase down Chattanooga, as the Mocs close out with the lead for the second straight day posting a 570, -6 to hold a two shot lead over Oklahoma State, 572, -4.
The Mocs’ Stephan Jaeger remains the individual leader shooting a 69, 136, -8 total to lead Sean Einhaus of OSU by one stroke.
