Owls Finish Season Opener Tied For 12th

WOLCOTT, Colo. - After 54 holes of play at the Golf Week Conference Challenge, the Kennesaw State women's golf team finished tied for12th, shooting a three-day team total of 304-317-309=930, +66, to tie with the University of Texas San Antonio.

Freshman Léa Charpier proved to be the most consistent Owl during the Challenge. The native of Paris, France finished tied for 32nd, posting a 75-80-75=230, +14.

Junior Ket Preamchuen led the Black and Gold after 36 holes, but struggled in the final round, posting a tournament total of 74-77-81=232, +16 to place tied for 39th.

Minami Levonowich, another freshmen on head coach Rhyll Brinsmead’s young squad, finished tied for 54th after shooting a 78-79-79=236, +20.

It was a pair of sophomores in Hayley Clinning and Lindsay Adams that alternated the final scoring spot for the Owls, as Clinning finished tied for 77th after posting scores of 88-81-76=245, +29, while Adams placed in a tie for 81st with a three round total of 77-93-79=249, +33.

The Owls had opportunities over the course of the tournament as the five competitors totaled 29 birdies in 15 rounds.

It was Oklahoma, the event's Big 12 representative that captured the team title, as the Sooners finished at 899, +35 to beat second place UC Davis (904, +40) by five strokes.

The Sooners' Chirapat Jao-Javanil claimed the individual medalist honors by shooting a 217, +1 to finish three-strokes in front of a trio of runner-ups.

The Black and Gold have a week off before returning to action when the team will travel to Lexington, Ky., to compete in the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational.
