NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Kennesaw State women's cross country team opened the season Friday night with a sixth-place finish at the Belmont Opener at Percy Warner Park.

The Owls finished sixth out of seven squads in their opener, collecting a team point total of 192 with a total time of 1:22:26.91. The team average for the 4K was 16:29.39 with Heather Morris, the only returner, turned in the best time for the Owls at 15:57.48.

The remaining runners for the Owls were all competing for the first time in their collegiate career as the squad has nine freshmen newcomers. Vicky Winslow placed 51st with a time of 16:04.60, Lauren Scott 57th at 16:33.50 and Sydney Williams finished 59th at 16:43.15.

Patrice Sweet placed 67th finishing at 17:08.18, Alla Yoonis 70th at 17:18.81, Amy Rice 72nd at 17:54.08 and Ashley Wallace finishing just behind in 73rd with a time of 17:54.08. Olivia Eurek placed 75th with a time of 19:06.92 while Brittany Robinson rounded out the scoring for the Owls in 77th finishing with a time of 20:33.12        

The Owls will be back in action on Sept. 9 for the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Ala.
