ROCKY FACE, Ga.  – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team wrapped up the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic in ninth after posting a 54-hole score 301-288-290=879, +15 at the Farm Golf Club.

"This week was not what we had hoped for, but it was a good test in our first event to see where we stacked up against some of the best teams in the country," head coach Jay Moseley said. "The greens gave us trouble all week. If we had putted halfway decent we could have easily been in contention to win. I was very pleased with our play from tee to green so we will build off that and work on our putting between now and our next event in two weeks."

Senior Matt Nagy was the low Owl of the tournament placing t-17, shooting a 75-70-71=216, even par over the course of three days. Nagy finished tied for third in par-5 scoring with and average of 4.42, -7, including two eagles on the long holes.

Senior Jeff Karlsson finished t-25 shooting a 74-72-73=219, +3 while sophomore Jonathan Klotz tallied a 74-73-73=220, +4 over three rounds to pace t-27.

Junior Ben Greene finished t-39, shooting a 78-73-73=224, +8 while freshman Austin Vick posted an 81-78-78=237, +21 to place t-58.

Auburn carried home the team title posting a 851, -13 to out duel SEC foe Tennessee 856, -8 and host school Georgia Tech 857, -7. Alabama finished in fourth shooting a 862, -2, while Clemson rounded out the teams under par finishing fifth after totaling an 863, -3.

The individual medalist for the Classic was Justin Thomas of Alabama who shot a 54-hole total of 206, -10 to finish four strokes ahead of Chattanooga’s Benjamin Weilguni’s 210, -6.
