ROCKY FACE, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team finished the second round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic tied for ninth with Wake Forest after posting a team score of 288, even par on the Rocky Face course of The Farm Golf Club.
For the second straight day a senior lead the charge for the Owls as
Matt Nagy shot a 70, -2 to position him t-18 with just one round of play left.
"Today we played better, but we still struggled on the greens,” head coach Jay Moseley said. “If we can make some putts tomorrow and maintain our ball-striking, we could really put together a great round. We know we are capable of playing much better, we just need to be sharper with our execution."
Just one stroke behind Nagy in the overall standings, senior
Jeff Karlsson is t-22 after posting a 72, even par in the second round.
Sophomore
Jonathan Klotz is t-27 after shooting a 73, +1 on Saturday, while teammates, junior
Ben Greene is t-43 posting a 73, +1 and freshman
Austin Vick is 59th after finishing the round with a 78, +6.
Leading the Classic is Auburn with a team total of 290-279=569, -7, while Tennessee, Chattanooga and Clemson are all tied for third at 574, -2 after 36-holes.
The Owls tee of again for the final round on Sunday at 8 a.m. on the back nine and will be paired with Middle Tennessee State and South Carolina.
