KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State women's golfers Ket Preamchuen and Hayley Clinning were both named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. The announcement was made this morning by the NGCA office.
“I am very proud of Ket and Hayley for their academic achievements this year," said KSU head women's golf coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "To be named as an All-American Scholar is such an honor and is testament to their hard work not only on the golf course but also in the classroom."
Clinning was impressive in her first year with the Owls. The freshman had a stroke average of 76.0 for the season and also had a pair of seventh-place finishes on the season, including a tie for seventh at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships.
Preamchuen had a solid season for the KSU women's golf squad. Her 75.4 stroke average led the Owls squad. She also had three top-five finishes on the 2010-11 season. Most recently, she participated in the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship, where she reached the Round of 32.
"This is the second consecutive year that Ket has earned this honor," said coach Brinsmead. "She truly epitomizes what can be achieved with hard work and dedication.”
According to the NGCA, the criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
