KENNESAW, Ga. - Fresh off an appearance at the NCAA Championships for the first time in program history, head men's golf coach Jay Moseley has been named Kennesaw State Athletics Men's Coach of the Year.

"I am truly humbled by this honor," said Moseley.  "It is always great to be recognized among your peers and I feel fortunate just to be walking in the same doors as them each day. It is also meaningful for me to be considered among the many great leaders and coaches that have come before me that helped establish the Kennesaw State Athletics traditions."

Moseley guided his squad to unprecedented success.  The Owls won five tournaments during the season, including the program's first-ever Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.  The program earned a pair of First Team All-Conference awards (Jeff Karlsson and Matt Nagy), one A-Sun All-Freshman team award (Jonathan Klotz), and five A-Sun Golfer of the Week awards.  In addition, Karlsson was named a Division I PING Second Team All-America honoree and the A-Sun Men's Golfer of the Year.

"Although this award has my name on it, it is more about the members of my team that worked hard each and every day," said Moseley

After securing the A-Sun's automatic bid into the NCAA's, Moseley led the Owls into their historic first appearance at the NCAA Regionals in Ocala, Fla.  The Owls kept soaring up the leaderboard into the final day, finishing in third place and securing a spot in the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla.

Moseley's team also competed equally as hard in the classroom.  Everyone on the roster finished the Fall 2010 semester with a grade point average of at least 3.0.  Eight members of the team also earned A-Sun All-Academic honors.  Capping the academic achievements, Ben Greene was named the NCAA Elite 88 recipient for the men's golf championships, given to the competitor at the finals of the NCAA Championships who has the highest grade point average.

Last week, head volleyball coach Karen Weatherington was named the Kennesaw State Athletics Women's Sports Coach of the Year.
