ATLANTA- The Kennesaw State Owls make the short trip down I-75 on Wednesday to Mewborn Field on the campus of Georgia Tech, where they take on the Yellow Jackets at 6 p.m.

The Owls (20-16, 7-7 Road) are coming off two straight losses at the hands of the Georgia Southern Eagles, where they fell, 4-2 and 7-2, on Tuesday afternoon.

Georgia Tech (31-6, 10-0 Home) have won 10 out of their last 11 games, and most recently swept Maryland in a three-game series on the road this past Saturday and Sunday. They are ranked No. 23 in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25.

Kennesaw State is 2-3 this season against teams that are or have been ranked in the top 25 nationally or have received votes in the national ranking. They defeated Georgia Tech, then ranked No. 25, 4-1 at Bailey Park on Feb. 23, with Owls sophomore Sharon Swanson providing the deciding moment with a grand slam in the third inning to provide her team with all of the offense they would need. Jessica Cross allowed just one unearned run in the pitcher’s circle in a complete game effort.

Georgia Tech leads the all-time series, 8-5, with the Owls having swept the season series one time, the first time the two squads met in 1992.

Junior infielder Kelsi Weseman (.389, 11 home runs) lead a brigade of seven Yellow Jacket starters batting above .300 and five who have double digit home runs. Their 68 home runs as a team is currently the second most in NCAA Division I softball, trailing only Alabama (72).

In the circle, senior Kristen Adkins has been red hot for the Ramblin Wreck, pitching to the tune of a 15-3 record and 0.87 earned run average.

Live stats will be available for Wednesday’s game. Live audio and video will also be available via Georgia Tech’s athletic website, www.ramblinwreck.com. Owls fans will also be able to follow all of the action via a live blog on KSUOwls.com.
