BRASELTON, Ga.- Kennesaw State remains the leader of the 2011 Atlantic Sun Men’s Golf Championship with a five-stroke lead after two rounds at the Chateau Course of Chateau Elan. The Owls’ Jeff Karlsson overcame a one-stoke deficit to begin the day to conclude play as the individual medalist leader at (136, -6)

“I am most pleased that for the second day in a row we finished off our rounds well and that was the key to us holding the lead,” head coach Jay Moseley said. “We have to keep hitting quality golf shots and make our putts. If we can do what we planned on doing we can stay out in front and win this championship.”

A trio of teams including KSU, North Florida and Campbell posted one-under-par rounds of 283 as the Ospreys and Camels are tied for second, five-strokes behind the Owls at (563, -5)

The individual leader board remains closely knit as six strokes separate the top-13 competitors. Karlsson sits only one-stoke atop Daniel Smith of Belmont (137, -5) and two-strokes ahead Matt Moot of Campbell (138, -4) with a pair of individuals at three-under-par and two-under-par. The Sweden natives' impressive streak of 58-holes of bogey free golf came to an end on the fourth hole after a bogey that halted a record spanning over two tournaments.

“It feels really good to be in the lead. As a team we have prepared all year and to have the chance to pull it off tomorrow is great,” Karlsson said. “ As for the individual lead it would be an honor to win and I am excited about being in contention on the final day.”

Florida Gulf Coast was the last of the field to post even par or better as the 2010 runner-up resides in fourth with Belmont in fifth. The 2010 Champions East Tennessee State is tied with USC Upstate at (579, +11).

Junior Matt Nagy is tied for fourth shooting a (71) in round two, while senior Chad Wilson remains tied for 21st after carding a (72, +1).

Freshman Jonathan Klotz moved up ten positions to tied for 28th after shooting a (71), and sophomore Ben Greene rounded out the scoring for the Owls finishing tied for 39th posting a (77, +6).

The final round begins at 8 a.m. (ET) with a split tee time. Belmont, FGCU and ETSU will begin at hole one while Stetson and Lipscomb will start at hole 10.

The Black and Gold will tee off at 8:45 a.m. (ET) and will be partnered with UNF and Campbell.
