ATHENS, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women's golf team finished round one of the 39th Annual Liz Murphey Invitational tied for ninth. The Owls posted a team score of (295, +7) at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
The new adopted format the event uses where all five players of each team play their rounds together rather than divided up into groups benefited the Black and Gold. Instead of calculating each team’s score by adding up the four best rounds, the four lowest scores from each hole will are included in the team total.
Friday's round for the Owls resulted in a strong finish for the squad in a formidable field of 23 teams all ranked in the Golfstat top-100 including five of the top-10 teams.
Freshman
Hayley Clinning led the charge for the team shooting even par on the afternoon and finished T-4th in the individual medalist race. The New Zealand natives two birdies on the back nine helped position the Owls in the middle of the pack heading into round two.
Sophomore Ket Preamchuen and freshman
Lindsay Adams also recorded two birdies each to utilize the format of the tournament to the Black and Gold's advantage.
The Black and Gold will tee off round two on Satuday at 9:30 a.m. (ET) with a shotgun start. Live stats can be viewed at
