MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Kennesaw State men's golf team, led by the play of junior
Matt Nagy are once again at the top of the leader board. The Owls posted a 284, -4 in the opening round of the Barefoot at the Beach Intercollegiate on Sunday at the Surf Golf and Beach Club.
"I am very pleased with our first round on a course that played difficult in the wind," head coach Jay Moseley said. "We got off to a solid start and most importantly we finished well. We made some silly mistakes but we will correct those and be ready to go tomorrow."
The Owls lead second place Gardner-Webb by four strokes and third place conference foe Campbell by nine strokes.
Nagy posted the best round of the afternoon for the Owls finishing in first place with an 18-hole score of 67. Junior
Jeff Karlsson in his first action of the spring carded a 72, as did freshman
Jonathan Klotz. Both competitors are T-11th. Sophomore
Ben Greene rounded out the scoring for the Black and Gold posting a 73, and is tied T-16th. Senior
Chad Wilson is T-57th after shoting an 81, while sophomore
Peder Lunde Hermansson posted a 74 as an individual competitor and is T-20th.
