MACON, GA. – Kennesaw State second baseman and leadoff hitter, Sean McClurken, was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week in announcement made by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
McClurken earned his first A-Sun Player of the Week award after batting .526 (10-for-19) for the Owls last week. Kennesaw State’s leadoff hitter had a hit and a run scored in five straight games, while also having a pair of three-hit games as he helped the Owls defeat the University of Georgia and sweep a three-game series from Lipcomb.
“This is a tremendous honor for Sean,” said head coach Mike Sansing. “He had a great week both offensively and defensively and he’s been a spark for us at the leadoff spot. For the last couple of weeks he has been our catalyst and has been getting a lot of big innings going for us.”
The Camano Island, Wash. native, who posted a .625 on-base percentage, walked five times and stole two bases while scoring seven runs and droving in four runs in five games. He is the second Kennesaw State player to be named the player of the Week, joining catcher Ronnie Freeman, who won the award earlier this month.
Kennesaw State will travel to Statesboro, Ga. to play Georgia Southern on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. before coming back to Stillwell Stadium for a Wednesday night affair with Georgia State beginning at 6:00 p.m.
