Kennesaw State Looks To Move Up In A-Sun

Owls have an all-time record of 3-14 against the River City schools

KENNESAW, Ga. – With the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament now less than a month away the Kennesaw State women’s tennis team is right in the thick of its playoff push as it travels to Jacksonville, Fla. to take on Jacksonville and North Florida this weekend.

The Black and Gold currently sit in third place in the A-Sun with a 3-1 record in conference play after the Owls split last weekend. Kennesaw State defeated Florida Gulf Coast, 5-2, on Friday, but fell to Stetson, 5-2, on Saturday.

Historically, this is one of the toughest trips that the Owls embark on during A-Sun play as they have an all-time record of 3-14 against the River City schools.

The Owls will look to lean on their singles play as they have a won 74 percent of their singles matches this season. Freshman Alexandra Apostu has led the way for the Black and Gold as she was won five straight singles matches, and she is also undefeated in conference play at 4-0.

Jacksonville enters this weekend with a record of 10-3 (1-2 A-Sun), and they were picked to finish eighth in the A-Sun Preseason Poll. North Florida comes into the weekend with a mark of 7-3 (2-1 A-Sun) with its lone conference loss coming against Campbell on Mar. 12. The Ospreys were picked to finish second in the A-Sun Preseason Poll.

Kennesaw State will open the weekend on Friday at 10 a.m. against Jacksonville.
