TALLAHASSE, Fla. - The Kennesaw State men's golf team made their mark in collegiate golf this week finishing in second place after posting a (290-281-276/847, -5) at the Seminole Intercollegiate. The Black and Gold were led by junior Jeff Karlsson who was awarded co-medalist after his (71-70-67/208, -5) performance.

"It was an awesome week for the team and from top to bottom our performance was a total team effort," head coach Jay Moseley said. "From the beginning of the week we felt we had a chance to win. We got off to a great start and most importantly we finished strong."

Feeling no pressure of being partnered with No. 18 Arkansas and No. 53 Florida State, the Owls finished round three at the Southwood Golf Course with the tournaments best round of (276, -8).

"It was a great opportunity for us to play with such good teams," Moseley said. "We felt all along we could hang and were confident we belonged. This was our first real chance to prove our worth and I am so proud of the team's play."

For the second consecutive tournament, the Owls placed two individuals inside the top-10. Junior Matt Nagy followed up his first place finish at the Barefoot at the Beach Intercollegiate earlier this week with a T-9th finish, shooting a (213, E).

Ben Greene again had a strong showing this week. The sophomore who was tied for third after round one finished, T-15th carding a (215, +2). Senior Chad Wilson T-21st shooting a (218, +5) while freshman Jonathan Klotz recorded a (221, +8) and finished T-41st.

As an individual competitor, Peder Lunde Hermansson finished T-43rd posting a (222, +9).

The Owls were bested by Arkansas by three-strokes and finished two-strokes ahead of third place Florida State. Each of the two schools had an individual earn a share of the individual title as Sebastian Cappelen (208, -5) of Arkansas and Drew Kittleson (208, -5) of Florida State both equalled Karlsson's performance.

The Owls will be back  in action Friday as the team will compete in the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C.
