TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Kennesaw State men’s golf team finished round two of the Seminole Intercollegiate in third place shooting a (290-281/571, +3) after 36-holes at the Southwood Golf Course.
"I am very pleased with our overall performance today," head coach Jay Mosely said. "We had a chance to play even better than we did, but we lost a few strokes coming in on the tougher holes."
The owls will be looking to chase down top ranked Arkansas (564, -4) who hold a three-stroke lead over tournament host, Florida State (567-1). The Black and Gold will be partnered with each of the two schools for Sunday’s final round.
"We have to have another solid outing tomorrow and finish our final round strong. It should be fun for us to play with two great teams, Arkansas and fsu," mosely said.
Junior Jeff Karlsson is leading the way for the Owls. The native of Sweden is currently T-6th after carding a (71-70/141, -1). Junior Matt Nagy is just outside the top ten finishing T-11th after shooting a (75-68/143, +1). Nagy's round of 68 was second best of the afternoon behind Ty Spinella (67) of North Texas.
Sophomore Ben Greene dropped from third to T-29th shooting a (69-77/146, +4). Freshman Jonathon Klotz climbed the leader board finishing day two at (77-70/147, +5). Senior Chad Wilson (75-73/148, +6) and individual competitor Peder Lunde Hermansson (75-73/148, +6) both dropped one spot finishing T-38th.
In the individual standings, Zach Portermont (138, -4) holds a one-stroke lead over Brooks Koepka of Florida State and Sebastian Cappelan of Arkansas.
The owls will tee off at 10:00 a.m. (E.T.) Sunday morning in search of their fifth title of the 2010-11 season.
