KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team begins its quest for its second straight berth in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament when it begins A-Sun play this weekend against Belmont on Mar. 4, and Lipscomb on Mar. 5.

The Owls enter conference play with a supreme amount of confidence as they have put together an impressive 9-2 record so far in non-conference play.

“We have been playing some pretty good tennis up until this point of the season," head coach Jeffery Kutac said. "We've been having some productive practices as of late so I am looking foward to seeing what A-Sun competition is like."

The Black and Gold are 1-4 all-time in A-Sun openers, but they are 1-1 in their past two.

Two Owls will be putting impressive streaks on the line this weekend as Junior Vera Shkundina has won nine singles matches in a row at the No. 1 spot, while sophomore Therese Lagerkvist currently has a six match A-Sun singles winning streak dating back to last season.

Kennesaw State has all-time records of 2-3 against Belmont, and 3-1 against Lipscomb.

Belmont enters this weekend with an overall record of 4-5, but it has won four of their previous five matches. Lipscomb comes into conference play with a mark of 1-5 with its lone win coming against Western Kentucky on Feb. 12.

The match against Belmont on Friday is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. CT, while the Owls match against Lipscomb on Saturday is scheduled for a 10 a.m. CT start.
