WOODSTOCK, Ga. – The Kennesaw State Owls take their show just north of campus this weekend, when they host the Third Annual Phyllis Rafter Memorial at Twin Creeks Softball Complex in Woodstock, Friday through Sunday.
The Owls (7-3), who have won three games in a row and are coming off of a, 4-1, win over Georgia Tech on Wednesday afternoon in their 2011 home opener at Bailey Park, play four games over the course of the weekend, hosting an event that includes eight teams from six different NCAA Division I conferences. They kick things off on Friday at 3:30 p.m. with a battle against the Mid-American Conference’s Ball State (2-2).
The Black and Gold play a pair on Saturday, first taking on the SEC’s Mississippi State (5-5) at 3:30 p.m. and then Bowling Green (0-5), also of the Mid American Conference.
Scott Whitlock’s squad wraps up the event at 1 p.m. against Tennessee State (5-6).
Also participating in the event are Purdue (5-3), the Owls Atlantic Sun Conference rival, Mercer (8-4) and their in-state rival, Georgia State (5-6), who play in the Colonial Athletic Conference.
The entire event will be covered on the Phyllis Rafter Memorial tournament page, with a schedule of the entire weekend and recaps and box scores available following each game’s conclusion. Live stats will also be available throughout the event.
