SORRENTO, Fla. – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team have two competitors in the top-10 of the UCF Challenge, with Ket Preamchuen in fifth and Hayley Clinning tied for tenth after round two at RedTail Golf Club.
The team is tied for eighth after posting a 292-301/593, +17 after 36-holes. With one round remaining the Black and Gold will look to make a final push on Tuesday.
"Although the conditions were much tougher today, the team worked hard to pull together a solid round," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "Hayley's round was fantastic, she played smart golf and was rewarded. Ket played well today also, and finished clutch down the stretch."
Freshmen Clinning posted the team’s top round, carding a 70, -2 to move her up the rankings into tenth place. Preamchuen posted another steady round of par golf, finishing with a 72, even par, dropping two places into fifth. Both senior Abby Fitzgerald who posted a 79, +7, and Molly Winnett who shot an 80, +8 are tied for 65th. Sophomore Chelcia Peterson finished with an 80, +8 to round out the day for the Owls.
Leading the UCF Challenge is Coastal Carolina at -2, 574. Trailing the Chancellors is South Carolina in second place at +2, 578 and round one leader Tulane in third, +3, 579.
Jessica Alexander of Coastal Carolina is leading the individual standings at -9. Ashley Albrecht of Kentucky is second, -8; Ashley McKenney of Tulane is third, -6, and Katie Burnett of South Carolina is fourth, -5.
