KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team picked up two wins on Saturday afternoon over Alabama State and Alabama A&M to push their winning streak to six matches which is the longest winning streak the Owls have had since joining the Division I level in 2005.
The Black and Gold beat Alabama State, 7-0, in the morning, and came back out in the afternoon to top Alabama A&M, 6-1.
The two victories move the Owls to 6-0 on the season extending Kennesaw State’s best-ever start to a season in the programs Division I history. The losses drop Alabama State to 1-2, and Alabama A&M to 0-2.
Freshman
Alexandra Apostu continued her own amazing streak as she has now won 10 straight matches to begin her collegiate career picking up two 6-0, 6-0 singles wins at the No. 3 position.
Junior
Vera Shkundina has also picked up her play as of late after falling in her first singles match of the season she has rattled off five straight singles wins at the No. 1 spot, including two more wins on Saturday.
Not to be outdone is the doubles team of senior
Agatha Palider and sophomore
Therese Lagerkvist as they have combined to win four matches in a row, adding on a pair of 8-0 wins this afternoon at the No. 2 position.
Kennesaw State will hit the road again on Feb. 15 as they will travel to Jacksonville, Ala. to battle Jacksonville State. The match is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m. eastern time.
