SORRENTO, Fla. – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team finished round one of the UCF Challenge at the RedTail Golf Club in eighth place. The team posted a 291, +4 score on the par 72, 6,319-yard course.

“I am really proud of the team’s play today, to begin the spring season with such a solid round and all around team effort is exciting,” head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. “We will be looking to continue to move up the leaderboard tomorrow.”

Sophomore Ket Preamchuen leads the charge for the Owls, finishing with a first round score of 68, -4. Preamchuen is currently in third place, two strokes behind Ashley Albrecht of Kentucky and Jessica Alexander of Coastal Carolina.

“Ket’s round was stellar, her putter was hot today, and it was a lot of fun to watch her play,” Brinsmead said.
Freshmen Hayley Clinning is tied for 24th posting a score of 73, +1. Sophomore Molly Winnett is tied for 45th, shooting a 75, +3. Senior Abby Fitzgerald carded a 76, +4, while Chelcia Peterson, in her Kennesaw State debut, finished with a 77, +5.

Leading the UCF Challenge through 18 holes is No. 14 Tulane, which posted a 284, -4. The Green Wave maintain a one-stroke lead over second place Coastal Carolina, 285, -3, followed by host school University of Central Florida in third place, finishing at 286, -2.
