KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's women's basketball team will try for its fifth straight win at home as it takes on Stetson this Saturday at 5 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center in Atlantic Sun Conference action.
The Lady Owls (7-15, 4-10) are coming off one of their toughest losses of the season. After falling behind by 20 points to Mercer Thursday night in Macon, Ga., KSU came storming back to take the lead, only to fall in overtime, 82-76. Sametria Gideon had 19 points and 20 rebounds in the losing effort, while Ashley Holliday had 21 points, her second straight game with over 20 points.
The Lady Owls will be facing a Stetson squad that can clinch a berth into the A-Sun Tournament with a win. The Hatters (12-11, 8-6) have a trio of players averaging more than 10 points per contest, led by Victoria McGowan's 14.6. In their last contest, the Hatters were able to defeat USC Upstate, 80-76, in DeLand, Fla.
Stetson has an, 8-3, advantage in the all-time series. In the last meeting between the schools back on January 17 in DeLand, KSU trimmed a 12-point halftime deficit down to five before Stetson pulled away to defeat the Lady Owls, 74-60. The last win for the Lady Owls came in DeLand during the 2008-09 season. KSU's last home win over Stetson was in the finale of the 2006-07 season, 72-61.
