KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s tennis team split their Friday doubleheader as they beat Young Harris, 7-0, but fell to Presbyterian, 5-2 in Young Harris, Ga.
The day’s results move the Owls to 3-2 for the season, while Young Harris drops to 0-3 and Presbyterian improves to 2-2.
“It's disappointing that we had players out there today who only fought intermittently,” head coach #T.J. Greggs# said. “For us to be successful, we can't have lapses in concentration like today. Simon had a very solid afternoon, but we simply didn't raise our games as a group and lost to a team we really should have beaten. I hope we have all of these poor matches out of our system moving forward.”
Kennesaw State started the doubleheader off in convincing fashion making quick work of Young Harris as no player even dropped a set for the Black and Gold, which included a solid win by sophomore
Gianni Kubin over Martin Harach at the No. 1 spot 6-2, 6-0.
The Owls looked as if they were poised to repeat their early morning performance against Presbyterian winning two of the three doubles matches to take the doubles point.
This is where the momentum swung away from Kennesaw State as Presbyterian came alive in singles play taking five of the six matches to win the match 5-2.
Junior
Simon Janik was the lone singles win for the Owls as he won 6-2, 6-7, 6-2 in the No. 1 position over Andrew Brigham.
Kennesaw State will now travel to Montgomery, Ala. on Saturday to play another doubleheader starting with Alabama State at 9 a.m.
