KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's women's basketball team will open up the 2011-12 season tonight when it takes on Wofford at the KSU Convocation Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., with coverage available via
ASun.TV and
KSU All-Access.
"The players have been working really hard in practice, and now it's time to see that hard work start to translate into success on the court," said KSU head coach Colby Tilley.
The Lady Owls were originally supposed to travel to Wofford for tonight's game; however, due to a presidental debate on the Wofford campus scheduled for tomorrow, the game was moved to Kennesaw. KSU will return the trip to Wofford next season.
KSU was picked to finish ninth in the Atlantic Sun Conference this year, but as Coach Tilley stated this week, "I think the coaches made that pick based on last year's season and last year's team. I just believe that when March rolls around we're going to be playing for a conference championship. I don't want to sound cocky or arrogant saying that, but I really will be disappointed if we aren't playing in that championship game."
The Lady Owls return a host of talent from last year's squad, including Preseason Atlantic Sun All-Conference selection Sametria Gideon. In addition, four highly-touted freshmen join the ranks of the Lady Owls for this season and hope to add increased dimensions of athleticism and talent on the court.
Wofford went 8-22 last season, but return senior forward April Moorhouse to the squad for her final campaign. Moorhouse went to T.L. Hanna High School, the same high school as Lady Owls Tamasha Bolden and Elaina Gray.
For tonight's contest, a family pack of four tickets will cost patrons just $11. In additon, in honor of Veteran's Day, all current and former military members will receive two free tickets for admission.
