KENNESAW, Ga. - Junior Sametria Gideon scored a career-high 23 points as the Kennesaw State women's basketball team fell, 66-62, to Wofford on Friday night at the KSU Convocation Center.

"We came out flat to start the second half, and the next thing we know, we're down 10 points," said KSU head women's basketball coach.  "Credit Wofford for coming out and making plays, but I think we did a really good job of trying to come back.  We just couldn't get over the hump in the end."

Trailing, 29-24, after the first 20 minutes, the Lady Owls saw Wofford come out and score the first five points of the second half to open up the first double-digit lead of the contest.  The lead would balloon as high as 14, 48-34, with 11:55 to go in the contest as Rachel Brittenham connected on a 3-pointer.

Undaunted, the Lady Owls would fight back.   Trailing by 10, the Lady Owls went on an, 8-2, run to get within four.  The run was capped when Lisa Capellan connected on a jumper in the paint with just over four minutes to go in the contest.

Wofford stretched the lead back up to seven, but the Lady Owls kept swinging away.  A three-point play by Kristina Wells with just under three minutes to go chopped the lead back down to four.  KSU would continue to have opportunities to slice into the lead, but the Lady Owls missed a pair of free throws, and three put-back opportunities stayed out of the cylinder.

Still, with 18.9 seconds to go, Taylor Mills connected on her only 3-pointer of the game to pull KSU within three, 65-62.  With a chance to ice the game from the free-throw line, Brittenham missed her first foul shot but made the second to provide the final margin for the Terriers.

KSU forced 23 turnovers in the contest, with 15 of those resulting in steals.  Wells had a game-high six steals to go with nine points.  Mills also added nine points to go with five rebounds.  Capellan was KSU's next-highest scorer with eight.

Brittenham's 16 points led Wofford, while Morgan Wrightson added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Owls will return to action this Tuesday when they face Gardner-Webb.  Tip-off in Boiling Springs, N.C., is slated for 7 p.m.
