Preamchuen Tied For Fourth After Round One

Owls look to gain ground after being in 12th with two rounds to play

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Kennesaw State’s Ket Preamchuen is tied for fourth at the Alamo Invitational after carding a first round 71, -1 at the par-72 Briggs Ranch Golf Course.

Behind the play of Preamchuen, the No. 56 ranked Owls are in 12th place, posting a team total of 304, +16.  The Black and Gold trail leader TCU by 16-strokes with 36-holes remaining to play. The Horned Frogs even-par 288 places the squad two strokes ahead of No. 35 Kentucky as they are looking for their second straight Alamo Invitational championship.

“Today was a frustrating day for the team as we took advantage of opportunities early in the round, but let our momentum slip at the turn,” head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. “Tomorrow our focus will be staying in the present and keeping it simple.”

Sophomore Hayley Clinning is tied for 23rd posting a 74, +2, while sophomore Lindsay Adams is tied for 60th after turning in a 79, +7. Freshmen Léa Charpier and Minami Levonowich each carded an 80, +8 to remain tied for 69th.

The Owls will look for a strong round two as a bevy of schools are positioned just ahead in the standings. No. 17 Texas A&M and Texas State are tied for eighth as each posted a 298, +10, while Minnesota and New Mexico State are tied for 10th at 301, +13.
