Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at Susie Maxwell Berning Classic

Preamchuen and Charpier record top-15 finishes

NORMAN, Okla. - The Kennesaw State women’s golf team bested eight top-100 programs and one top-50 program on their way to a sixth place finish at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic after posting a 298-294-310=902, +38.

In the opening two rounds on the par-72, 6,327-yard Jimmie Austin Golf Course, the Black and Gold carded consecutive season-best rounds to position the team for a strong finish on Tuesday. Leaning on the catalyst of Ket Preamchuen, the junior led the Owls with a seventh place finish after carding a 68-74-76=218, +2 for her second consecutive top-10 finish.

"I am very proud of the teams tenacity in the difficult conditions today," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "We were determined to maintain our place in the standings and knew how important this finish was to our rankings. I can not say enough about the play of Ket and Léa. Their play was stellar all week and they led the charge for us."

Freshman Léa Charpier also recorded her second consecutive top-15 finish as she tied for 15th after turning in a 77-70-76=223, +7. Both sophomore Hayley Clinning and freshman Minami Levonowich tied for 55th as Clinning posted a three round total of 80-75-78=233, +17, while Levonowich finished at 77-75-81=233, +17. Sophomore
Lindsay Adams shot a 76-80-80=236, +20 to finish tied for 70th.

Host school Oklahoma captured the team title posting an 878, +14 to top Big 12 foe Texas Tech (879, +15) by one stroke. Florida State and Texas A&M each tied for third after carding a 883, +19, while New Mexico (887, +23) rounded out the top-five.

Sooners' Anne Tanguay claimed the individual medalist honors as her 210, -6 defeated Texas Tech’s Kimberly Kaufman (213, -3) by three strokes. The two individuals were the only two to finish under par as a quartet finished tied for third at 217, +1 and Preamchuen just behind at 218, +2.

The Owls will return to action Oct. 30 – Nov. 1, as they will travel to San Antonio, Texas to compete in the Texas-San Antonio Invitational. For updates on the Invitational and the women’s golf team, you can follow the team on Twitter @KSUOwlsWmnsGolf.
