LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team dropped to tied for 10th after round two of the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, posting a 36-hole total of 322-319=641, +65 at the University Club of Kentucky, Big Blue Course.
“Today was tough, as we had too many missed opportunities,” head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. “To make the turn at six-over-par and shoot a 319 is obviously very disappointing. This team is very talented and I believe we are capable of so much more. The goal tomorrow is to keep it simple and move into the top-five.”
Junior Ket Preamchuen posted the low round for the Owls on Saturday as the native of Thailand turned in a 77, +5 to conclude round two tied for 16th. Also tied for 16th is freshman Léa Charpier after shooting a 78, +6.
Sophomore Hayley Clinning is tied for 26th after posting an 81, +9 while freshman Minami Levonwich is tied for 45th shooting an 83, +11 to round out the scoring for the Black and Gold.
Failing to contribute to the Owls team total, sophomore Lindsay Adams bolsters a two-day total of 84-86=170, +28 to remain tied for 71st.
UCF still remains the leader as the Knights (616, +40) lead host school Kentucky (621, +45) by five-strokes. Michigan (632, +56) is in third with Augusta State and Illinois tied for fourth as each school posted a 36-hole total of 633, +57.
The Knights Kaitlyn Price (150, +6) is still the individual leader as she holds a one-stroke lead over Kentucky’s Ashleigh Albrecht and Illinois’ Samantha Sloan (151, +7).
The Owls will tee off for the final round on Sunday at 9 a.m. E.T. on the back nine and will be paired with Chattanooga and Jacksonville State.
