KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's women's basketball team will go for its fourth win in five contests Monday night as the Lady Owls travel to take on USC Upstate in Atlantic Sun Conference action. Tip-off in Spartanburg, S.C. is set for 5 p.m.
The Lady Owls (6-13, 3-8) are coming off a tough, 85-61, loss to East Tennessee State Saturday afternoon. In that contest, junior guard Angie Smith set a new career-high with 26 points, going 9-of-16 from the field including a pair of 3-pointers. Smith also had four steals, helping her maintain her lead in the A-Sun in steals per game (2.79) and steals per A-Sun game (3.27).
Junior Tamasha Bolden also earned her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Her first double-double came in the first meeting of the season with the Spartans on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Spartans (11-9, 7-4) are currently sitting in third place in the A-Sun standings. The Spartans are buoyed by the play of A-Sun Preseason Player of the Year Chelsea McMillan, who currently ranks third in the A-Sun in scoring (16.1 points per game) and leads in rebounding (11.9 rebounds per game). In the first meeting of the season between the two squads on Jan. 3 in Kennesaw, McMillan scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Upstate to the win, 75-67.
Following Monday night's contest, the Lady Owls will be idle for a week until hosting Campbell at the KSU Convocation Center in A-Sun action next Monday at 5 p.m.
