KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's women's basketball team will look to even its record in home contests this season as it plays host to Jacksonville an an Atlantic Sun Conference contest Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center.
The Lady Owls (3-12, 0-7) have had success at the KSU Convocation Center this season, earning wins over Alabama State and Chattanooga on their home floor. The larger the home crowd, the better the Lady Owls play as KSU is undefeated at home with over 400 fans in attendance. The largest crowd in program history - 1,144 - saw KSU's most exciting win of the season when KSU defeated Chattanooga, 65-63, in overtime.
KSU is still searching for that elusive first win in A-Sun play this season. This is the deepest into a season since the Lady Owls joined the A-Sun that the team has gone without a conference win. The home court has given KSU its best chance to win a conference game this season, as the Lady Owls fell by just eight, 75-67, to USC Upstate Jan. 3.
The Lady Owls currently lead the A-
Sun in steals per game in A-
Sun games with 11.86 in seven conference games played. KSU is also the best offensive rebounding team in the conference in A-
Sun games, averaging 17.43 per conference contest. Individually, Angie Smith leads the A-
Sun in steals per A-
Sun game with a 3.71 average. Teammate Sametria Gideon leads the A-
Sun in offensive rebounds per A-
Sun game (5.57) and ranks third in the A-
Sun in rebounds per A-
Sun contest (10.1).
Jacksonville (8-8, 3-4) has won two of its last three contests, including an, 87-75, win over USC Upstate Monday night in Jacksonville. The Dolphins have balanced scoring, with four players averaging at least 10 points per contest. Crystal Bell leads the way in scoring for JU with 11.1 points per contest.
The last time the two teams met, the Lady Owls pulled out a thrilling, 65-62, win over the Dolphins. Smith made a pair of free-throws with 17 seconds to go to put KSU up by two, then KSU's defense clamped down and prevented the Dolphins from scoring.
