SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team are tied for fourth place in the Cardinal Intercollegiate after 36 holes. The Owls got off to a strong start at the Cardinal Club in the opening round posting a 281, finishing in second place.
Lead by senior Chad Wilson, whose 67 tied Riley Wheeldon of Louisville for second in the individual standings, positioned the Black and Gold one stroke behind Illinois State University.
“I was very pleased with our start today,” head coach Jay Moseley said. “Chad got off to a great start and put up a great score for us.”
In the second round of play the Owls finished with a 290, totaling a 571 for 36 holes of play. Sitting five strokes behind the leader Marshall, the Owls look for a strong finish on Tuesday.
“Overall we struggled to hit fairways, which didn’t allow as many birdie opportunities,” Moseley said. “The course was yielding low scores and we made too many mistakes in our second round. We will regroup tonight and come out tomorrow and give it our best. “
The Owls are looking to win back-to-back tournaments after winning the Sam Hall Intercollegiate Sept. 13-14 to open the season.
The Owls finished as followed:
Kennesaw State 281-290/571 t-4th
Chad Wilson 67-74/141 t-5th
Jeff Karlsson 70-72/142 t-9th
Ben Greene 72-72/144 t-24th
Matt Nagy 77-72/149 t-53rd
Peder Hermansson 72-80/152 t-65th
