KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's baseball team will say farewell to five seniors Friday afternoon in a ceremony before the scheduled 1 p.m. start of its doubleheader with East Tennessee State. With that in mind, KSUOwls.com asked each of the five seniors to reflect on what Senior Day means to them.
Kyle Clayton:
"There's been a lot of peaks and valleys over the last four years. I can go to bed at night knowing I gave everything I had on the field for my teammates. It's a bittersweet moment. It's time to graduate and it's time to move on. I think about the fact that I'll have the opportunity to coach a lot of kids and teach them how to play baseball, but it's tough knowing I won't get to play baseball anymore."
Brad Long:
"It's a chance to go out there and give it everything you can one last time. I don't know if [Friday night] will be my last time I get to go out there and pitch, so I was throwing as hard as I could. It's huge because you don't know what to expect and you have to leave it all out on the field."
Clint Roques:
"Senior Day is about playing with everybody for the last time. It's the culmination of my career. It's a chance to think about everything that's happened here. I've made a lot of friends here and had the chance to build something special. It's been great watching players grow, like all of the players who were drafted last year. It's been very special."
Micah Sales:
"It's the end of the baseball career and the start of a new chapter. It's exciting I guess. I've really had to learn a lot about dealing with adversity through perseverance. It's been tough, but it's been a lot of fun. I've made a lot of great friends here. It's been tough, but when I think about all the talented players I've had the chance to play with over the past four years...it's been a lot of fun."
Tyler Stubblefield:
"Senior Day means the world to me. It's the end of a career at a school where I've played for the best coaches in the world and played with the best teammates a player could ever ask for. When reality sets in, you just don't want this experience to end. After all that though, I know that Senior Day is the beginning of a great future in whatever I do. Senior Day really means the world to me."
