KENNESAW, Ga. – The future is bright for Kennesaw State women’s golf, and that was on display on Monday, as two of head coach Rhyll Brinsmead’s signees for the Fall of 2010 both excelled in their respective state tournaments. Lindsay Adams of Great Atlanta Christian won the Georgia Class AA State Championship with a 1-over par 73 while Metz of Franklin County High School finished second in the Class AAA State Championship, firing a 74.

The win for Adams was especially satisfying, as she was instrumental in leading her team to the overall team title, as the Spartans shot a team score of 7-over par 151 to take the championship by 26 strokes at the East Course at the Alpharetta Athletic Club.

Metz, who won the Region 8- Class AAA regional champion with a 66, which was the lowest score shot in any of the region championships in the state, finished in a tie for second at the state championship, two strokes behind the winning score of 72 at the Country Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ga. She closes her prep career as the 26th ranked player in the nation in the class of 2010 and number 73 in the nation overall.

For Brinsmead, it was encouraging to see two of her additions play so well in their final days of high school competition. The Owls will also welcome New Zealand's Hayley Clinning to their program this fall.

“I am very proud of both Lindsay and Carrie’s performances at their respective state championships,” Brinsmead said. “This is Lindsay’s second state championship, and I know how much winning her senior year meant to her. I am very excited for this recruiting class to start at KSU next fall.”
