KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's baseball team will look to earn a non-conference win Tuesday afternoon when it hosts Jacksonville State at Stillwell Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
The Owls (14-20) are coming off a tough weekend in Nashville where they dropped two out of three to Lipscomb. The Owls did fight back and win the finale in extra innings, 12-11, to salvage one game of the series and snap a four game losing streak. Josh Whitaker connected for a solo home run to lead off the 11th inning to provide the winning margin for the Owls.
Jacksonville State is also coming off a tough weekend, dropping two out of three to Murray State. The Gamecocks (17-15) are batting .311 as a team, with Andrew Edge leading the way with a .347 mark. Edge is also second on the club in home runs (9) and RBIs (44).
The two teams met on February 24 of this season in Jacksonville, Ala., in a game that did not go well at all for the visiting team. KSU fell behind 11-0 after the first two innings, eventually losing 17-2. Peyton Hart had a two-run single in the eighth inning to account for all of the Owls' runs.
Tuesday's game against the Gamecocks will also be in conjunction with the 3rd Annual Student Crawfish Boil, sponsored by KSU Athletics, KSU Housing, and KSU KAB. Over 400 pounds of Louisiana crawfish will be served for free to KSU students. The first 500 KSU students will also receive a free KSU Owls glass mug.
Following Tuesday's game, the Owls will be off until Saturday when North Florida comes to Stillwell Stadium to begin a three-game series. Saturday's games will be available via
ASun.TV, while Sunday's game will be available via streaming audio for free from KSUOwls.com.
