Patricia Arana shoots even-par 72 as Owls finish day two in tie for sixth

ORANGE PARK, Fla. - Sophomore Patricia Arana fired an even-par 72 on Monday to lead the Kennesaw State Owls on the second day of the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational at Eagle Landing Golf Club in Orange Park, Fla.

The Owls came in with a team score of +19 307 on the second day to put them in a tie for sixth after ending day one in third place. All four scoring Owls shot in the 70s, with senior Jordan Lazenby shooting a +5 77, and senior Abby Fitzgerald and freshman Molly Winnett each firing +7 79. Freshman Ket Preamchuen rounded out the scoring for the Owls with a +8 80.

"Although we struggled today through the final four holes, we are still in a good position to finish strong tomorrow," Owls head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said, referring to the score of +6 that her team recorded on Monday on holes 15-18. "Patty's 72 today was one of the best rounds she has ever played, she really came through for the team today. It will be a close battle between the top six teams tomorrow but i'm confident that we will go low."

Illinois shot the lowest score of the day as a team, with a +6 294. Overall, Central Arkansas sits in first place with a score of +20 596 over the first 36 holes of play. South Florida, as well as Atlantic Sun Conference rivals Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast also sit between Kennesaw State and the top of the leaderboard. Chattanooga is tied with the Owls at +35 611.

Individually, Hailey Koschmann of Illinois leads the way, firing a two-under par 70 on Monday to come in with a -5 139 after two rounds. Arana's 72 propelled her to a tie for 10th overall.

The Owls will all start on the first hole on Tuesday morning, with Preamchuen going off first at 8:48 a.m. She is followed by Winnett, Lanzenby, Fitzgerald, and Arana, at 8:56, 9:04, 9:12, and 9:20, respectively.
