Owls Tennis Begins Busy Spring Break

Owls hit the road for three matches

3/5/2010 6:08:32 AM

KENNESAW, Ga. - The tennis teams at Kennesaw State University will hit the road once more today, facing off with the defending champion in the Atlantic Sun on both sides, East Tennessee State University.  It begins a three match road swing where the Owls will travel south to Florida for an A-Sun match with Florida Gulf Coast on Monday, before finishing the trip with a non-conference affair against Florida Atlantic University.

"This is a very important week for our teams," indicated women's head coach Brandon Padgett.  "We're looking forward to the opportunity to make our mark."

Last season, the men and women both were unable to play their matches against ETSU, but both teams downed Florida Gulf Coast by identical 6-1 margins.  This will be the first-ever meeting between the Owls and Florida Atlantic, in a battle of the "Owls."

"We know that FGCU has improved from last season," added head men's coach T.J. Greggs.  "You can't take anyone in this conference lightly."

The match today will take place indoors in Bristol, Tenn.  The men begin at 2:00 p.m. and the women follow when courts are available.
