DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A rare doubles sweep was followed by a singles rout by the Kennesaw State Owls women's tennis team today, as they dominated Bethune-Cookman at the City Island Tennis Center today, winning 7-0 without dropping a set.

Leading the Owls (9-10) were the No. 1 doubles team of Ayano Tanaka and Vera Shkundina, who won their doubles match 8-2, before also rolling to easy wins at the top two singles spots.  Each player lost only two games in singles to the Wildcats (8-6), who had won 8 of their last 9 matches.

"Ayano played about as well as I have seen her play in the three years she has been with us," commented head coach Brandon Padgett.  "It was great to see her play so well and it inspired her teammates to play well, also."

The Owls were in complete control throughout the match, with other double winners including Morgan Carney, Iesha Holton, and Agatha Palider.  Freshman Therese Lagerkvist also added to her team best total for wins on the season, finishing off her opponent 7-5, 6-2 for her 14th win of the season.

"This is a great step for us as we head into next weekend with a chance to make the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament," added Padgett.  "If we can continue to play like this, we expect to get into the tournament and make some noise."

The Owls will continue their quest for their first A-Sun Tournament appearance when they return home next Friday to take on Lipscomb University.  The Owls will then follow up with a match against Belmont on Saturday, before finishing the regular season on Tuesday, April 6 against Mercer.
