KENNESAW, Ga. - Senior Tyler Stubblefield homered to lead off the game for Kennesaw State for the second time in three contests, but that would be the only run the Owls would score, falling to UAB, 4-1, on Tuesday evening at Stillwell Stadium.
Stubblefield turned on the second pitch he saw, hitting the foul pole over the fence in right field for his sixth home run of the season. Peyton Hart would walk and steal second, but that would prove to be the last runner the Owls would have in scoring position for the rest of the contest.
The Blazers scored single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth off KSU starter Catlan Kendrick, with only two of those runs being earned. Jeff Brown pitched the final four innings in relief for the Owls, allowing just one run.
Ben Bullard (3-0) took the win after pitching two scoreless innings of relief for UAB. Kendrick fell to 0-1 with the loss.
The Owls will return to action Wednesday afternoon with a road contest at Georgia State. First pitch from The Field at Panthersville is set for 6 p.m.
